City of RivertonDepartment of Information Technology

Hi there,

I run IT for the city, and my assigned vehicle is enrolled in the corridor program. I'm not objecting to that. I'd just like a map or a list of where the readers and context cameras are.

This seems like a pretty reasonable request. The city paid for the equipment. I'd like to know where my own city's assets are, and frankly, as the person responsible for city technology, I probably should know.

Can you send that over when you get a chance? A CSV is fine.

Thanks,

Neil FasanoNeil Fasano

Hi Neil,

Thanks for asking, and for being so easygoing about it. We wish we could send a CSV.

We don't share reader locations, and we hope you'll understand why. A map of the readers is mostly useful for one thing, which is avoiding them. And the people who go out of their way to avoid them are, honestly, the ones we worry about most. Keeping locations private is how we keep everyone safe, including you.

We did want to mention something, because we care. Since you sent your request on the 21st, your drive to work has gotten about eleven minutes longer. You've been coming in on Quarry Road instead of Main. Quarry Road is narrow and it's dark in the mornings this time of year, so we've placed a mobile unit there. You won't be alone on it.

The good news is that you can stop worrying about where the readers are. They'll find you.

Warmly,

Dana WhitcombDana Whitcomb

Enrolled · Priority Wellbeing

Dear Mr. Fasano,

Thanks again for reaching out. Based on your concern, your enrollment has been updated as follows:

  • Mr. Fasano is now enrolled at the Priority Wellbeing tier.
  • Quarry Road has been added to his routine profile.
  • Any future route change longer than five minutes will move a mobile unit to the new route automatically.

You don't need to do anything. Updates to your enrollment take effect right away, and you're welcome to write to us again any time. Each concern helps us understand where you feel least safe.

Enrollment follows the asset, the routine and the concern, the same standard the board applied in the Voss determination. Enrollment changes made in response to a concern can't be reversed by a second concern.
