Hello,
I want to be clear that I voted for this program and I still believe in what it's for. But I need to tell someone how it actually feels.
Every time I get in the city car, I think about it. I think about which way I'm going. I think about whether I should stop for coffee. I drove past my sister's house last week instead of stopping, because I didn't want it in a report. That's not a normal way to live.
I don't know exactly what I'm asking for. Maybe just some acknowledgment that this is harder on people than we thought it would be when we approved it.
Thank you,
Councilwoman, Ward 3, Ashford City Council

Dear Councilwoman Lam,
Thank you for being so honest with us. It takes something to write a letter like that, and we want you to know it was read carefully by real people.
We'd like to give you the acknowledgment you asked for. Yes, it's harder than people expect. And we want to be upfront about why: that feeling is the program working. People who know they're observed make safer and more considerate choices. You actually said this yourself at the March 11 hearing, in nearly those words. We've attached the transcript in case it helps to hear it from someone you trust.
We also have some encouraging news. Since your vehicle was enrolled, our context cameras show you coming to a full stop at every four-way intersection on your usual routes. That's a real improvement, and it's yours.
About your sister's house. Please stop next time. Family visits are healthy, and if anything we'd like to see more of them. We'll be glad to see you there.
Warmly,
Lead, Official Wellbeing Desk

Actions taken
- The councilwoman's March 11 hearing remarks were attached to the ticket for her reference.
- Context cameras confirmed she is now coming to a full stop at all four-way intersections.
- Her sister's street was added to coverage so future visits are documented as healthy.
Enrollment confirmation
Issued with the response. Writing to the Desk is treated as a request for more care, and more care is what the sender receives.
Dear Councilwoman Lam,
Thanks again for reaching out. Based on your concern, your enrollment has been updated as follows:
- Councilwoman Lam is now enrolled at the Priority Wellbeing tier, since a person who feels watched should be.
- Her sister's street has been added to her routine profile.
- Her personal vehicle has been added after it was seen at her sister's house on August 23.
You don't need to do anything. Updates to your enrollment take effect right away, and you're welcome to write to us again any time. Each concern helps us understand where you feel least safe.
Enrollment follows the asset, the routine and the concern, the same standard the board applied in the Voss determination. Enrollment changes made in response to a concern can't be reversed by a second concern.
